Learn key fun phrases in the native tongue – It helps you connect with locals and get great discounts when bartering.
In Vietnam I learnt the phrase ‘oi troi oi’ which means ‘Oh my God’ in Vietnamese. I used it whenever a local gave me a price for something and it always gave them a good laugh!

My Travel Journey.
Hi my name is Jules, I live in Bournemouth with my two kids and husband and I have been working in travel for 6 years.
Growing up in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, my Dad was always keen to show us different parts of Europe, on mainly package holidays, which gave me my first taste of travelling, going to Tenerife when I was 6 months old.
For me and my sisters 18th birthday we went on Safari in Kenya where we stayed at the Treetops Hotel, which was where the Queen stayed when King George died and you can still stay there today!
After gaining a BSc Hons in Business Management from the University of Surrey, I went travelling with my best friend around South East Asia for 6 months which was my first experience of backpacking staying in the cheapest accommodation and eating the most interesting local delicacies to try and make the money last!
During this adventure I experienced working in an Elephant sanctuary, tubing down wild rivers in Laos, hiring a motorbike and completing the Top Gear Vietnam special by motorbiking from Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi and gaining my PADI Open Water Certificate in Koh Tao.
My thirst for travel is closely matched by my passion for people and I love to hear about peoples lives and their personal experiences. I believe travelling enriches your own life as you become much more aware of how other cultures function and the different religious sects which shape communities.
During my time at not Just Travel I have been lucky enough to enjoy a FAM trip to Jersey, in a propeller plane and was part of the first corporate team to trek to the Lost City of Colombia.
Favourite Holiday Type.
My favourite type of holiday involves lots of food and exploring. I like to go at my own pace, explore new places, and people watching is a favourite past time.
