Astronaut Training Experience (ATX) provides an opportunity for visitors to train like an astronaut preparing for a mission to Mars.

ATX:

Train like the astronauts of the next generation who will travel to Mars in the all-new Astronaut Training Experience^® (ATX). Join the crew as you begin a spectacular new mission simulation including launching, landing and walking on Mars. Perform a spacewalk in the harshest environment through exciting and immersive microgravity simulation technology. You’ll also participate in a launch of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket as a member of both the launch control team and the Orion capsule crew. Throughout your training, create personalized video logs of the unforgettable experience to revisit after you complete your mission.

Spacewalk:
In this one-of-a-kind Spacewalk training, you will experience some of the challenges of working in a microgravity environment without ever leaving Earth. Work with a team to perform a simulated EVA (extravehicular activity) in which you complete a mission to repair the space station truss.

Land and Drive on Mars:

Navigate the Martian surface! In the full-motion simulator you and a partner will train to land on the surface of Mars and then drive across the rugged terrain to reach the safety of Mars Base – with the help of your crew in Training Control.

Walk on Mars:

Explore the Martian surface on foot using virtual reality to complete a series of tasks necessary for survival on the Red Planet.

Launch Mission:

Participate in a launch of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket as a member of the launch control team and the Orion capsule crew.
